The Daily Planet

These were taken amongst all the scarily big skyscrapers and investment banks in the East End. I love how 90s this area always feels. The buildings remind me of Metropolis - you know, where Clarke Kent/Superman and Lois Lane would chase down news stories and foil Lex Luther's evil plans for global domination!

I always admired Lois Lane (Terri Hatcher's version, of course) when I was a little girl - I loved how forthright and spunky she was, always smarter than everyone else (and not scared to show it) and always scooping the best news story. I also loved Scully from The X Files. My mum loves to tell of my 7-year-old phase of carrying a toy gun and police badge in my bag because I wanted 'to be just like Scully'!

It's funny how the people we admire as children can shape the adults we become. I think 'forthright' and 'spunky' are certainly two adjectives that would describe me. I guess Lois Lane and Scully had more of an effect than perhaps my mum anticipated, although luckily I no longer carry a gun in my bag!

We actually got told off for taking photos here - apparently you have to pay to do a photo shoot in this square. I told the security guard that although I totally understand it would be easy to mistake me for a 5ft10 supermodel, we were just taking photos for fun... You'd think the banks around there would have enough money to let us take photos for free! UBS, I'm talking about you!
