Drink, Shop & Do

I bought this Aran sweater in a vintage shop in Paris but almost put it back on the rail because I thought it would be another six or so months until I could wear it...but I guess I was wrong! It is absolutely freezing outside! I even had to steal the Texan's scarf to keep me warm while taking these photos...

We took these photos alongside Lamb's Conduit Street, which is a lovely little street of shops and cafes. Much to the Texan's annoyance, I kept being distracted by a little budgie who was watching me through the window of his house! I felt bad for the little guy, all caged up...

We were over by Lamb's Conduit Street because last Friday the Texan found someone's diary on the floor of the number 252 bus and took it with him in the hope of finding its rightful owner. I felt cheeky looking through someone's diary (I'd hate someone to look through mine) but luckily we found a telephone number jotted down inside and were able to drop it off at the diary-owner's flat!

As a reward for all our good deed-liness, we wandered up to King's Cross for lunch at Drink, Shop & Do. I discovered this place about 18 months ago and I love it to bits. If I ever had a cafe, this is how it would be. They serve sandwiches with the crusts cut off and afternoon tea and cakes and scones and coke floats and root beer and cocktails in the evening! It's my idea of perfection.

Most of the cake stands and crockery are for sale, which I think is a fantastic idea! There's a little gift shop downstairs too which sells vintage furniture, tea towels, mugs, jewellery, prints, books, purses, cards, tea pots, buttons, games, note cards, balls of wool, sweeties...you name it, they've got it.

Unfortunately I haven't yet been to any of their events but they hold all kinds of 'do's (hence the name, Drink, Shop & Do) during the month - tomorrow evening they are doing vintage pin-up hair and make-up, and there's no set charge, you just pay what you think it's worth...

So definitely somewhere worth visiting if you're ever in the area, especially on a cold day!
